Leadership Milestone Programme - Lead Managers

Overview

The Leadership Milestone Programme is a leadership development initiative led by NCSS to upscale leadership capabilities within the social service sector. The aims of this leadership programme are to professionalise the social service sector and build up the leadership capabilities of social service professionals to prepare them to take on leadership roles in their respective Social Service Agencies.

Who Should Attend?

The Leadership Milestone Programme – Lead Managers is especially relevant for directors or equivalents who are responsible for leading teams and/or functions, and have the potential to lead organisations.

 *Note: It is advisable for those who have attended the Leadership Milestone Programme - Lead People to attend Leadership Milestone Programme - Lead Managers at least 4 years later.
 
 
Programme Structure

The Leadership Milestone Programme – Lead Managers is thoughtfully designed with pre and post activities, in addition to the 8-days training modules.

Format
Across a 10-month period, learners need to commit to completing (a) Adept-15 personality self-assessment, (b) pre and post programme 360 degree feedback performance assessment, (c) four training modules over a total of eight days, (d) action learning project with presentation, (e) two one-to-one coaching sessions.

 

Pre-Programme Professionals will be assessed by ADEPT-15 and 360 degree feedback to identify current strengths and areas of developments so as to provide inputs to help professionals understand how their personalities can impact their effectiveness as a leader.
Training Modules Selected leadership development training modules in the area of personal effectiveness, team effectiveness, achievement of results as well as vision and values are delivered to develop the leadership competencies of the professionals
Action Learning Projects (ALPs) Action Learning Projects (ALPs) are designed for professionals to facilitate real-time, real-work opportunities to construct their learning in relation to their organisations' needs.
Post-Programme
  • There will be an evaluation of the professionals' development growth through a 360-degree exercise upon the completion of the training modules, and to fine-tune and apply the leadership competencies in their work context.
  • Two one-to-one coaching sessions will be conducted to coach and guide the professionals in their development planning.

Learners will be required to undergo (i) self-assessment through Adept-15 personality assessment and (ii) performance assessment done through 360 degree feedback exercises. Learners’ Manager(s) and colleagues are strongly encouraged to participate in their 360 Degree Feedback Exercise to provide them targeted input for their development planning.

Module 1: 
Enhance Self
  1. Relate the importance of self-awareness to increased responsibilities in organisational leadership roles
  2. Develop greater self-awareness of own traits and perceptions from others, through personality trait measurement and multi-lateral feedback techniques
  3. Apply self-awareness and emotional intelligence concepts in developing leadership traits
  4. Manage stresses of increased responsibilities, through self-regulation, approachability and empathy
  5. Develop authenticity and vulnerable leadership in organisation settings
Module 2: 
Facilitate Team Effectiveness
  1. Evaluate implementation of strategies for cross-team functioning
  2. Create a learning culture for sustained organisational performance
  3. Design a framework for prioritising learning needs
Module 3: 
Facilitate Achievement of Results
  1. Develop a culture of client focus
  2. Examine the competencies of positive political savviness to leverage on relationship with stakeholder
  3. Design strategies for effective stakeholder management
  4. Devise techniques for strategic decision making to achieve results
Module 4: 
Facilitate Vision and Values
  1. Create a culture of innovation in the organisation
  2. Design a plan to enhance strategic agility
  3. Relate ways to uphold organisation’s values within and outside the organisation
